It's that time of year again! The weather is changing; the days are getting cooler. Rainy season is coming to an end, we hope. Even though the weather is still warm here in Cambodia, there is something fall-related to look forward to! We are hosting the 3rd annual Pumpkin Dash, now called the 1st annual Turkey Trot! For the third year in a row, the Running Club will be hosting a fun run for kids of all ages and for adults. If you like running, if you like races, or if you just want to cheer on our runners, we're looking for you!
What distances? We will have three race categories: a 2K, a 5K, and a 10K.
When? Saturday, November 18th at 7 am (registration begins at 6:30am)
Where? Race begins and ends at House #11, Street 3, New World near Wat Samrong Andeth. (All races will take place within the Borey.)
How do I sign up? All races are $5. Pay now or on the day of the race. You can contact Ms. Bawden or Ms. Snyder if you are interested In registering for the run. Our emails are below. Sign up anytime between now and the race!
Why? All proceeds will benefit our upcoming trip to Siem Reap for the Angkor Wat Half Marathon.
For more information, please email Ms. Bawden (email@example.com) or Ms. Snyder (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Join us for a morning of excitement, fun, fellowship, and running.
Run the Race well,
Ms. Snyder, Ms. Bawden, & the Logos Running Club
As you may know Cambodia will hold a general election in 2018. This is set for 29th July. In the past there have been protests and demonstrations before and after the election day. A number of organisations, including Asian Hope are concerned about how this may affect us and the families at our schools. I have spoken to other school leaders as well to see what they are doing. Some schools usually start later than we do anyway and others are deliberately changing so that they start later.
This is what has been decided for Logos / AHIS:
As there may be cause for concern within Phnom Penh after the election due to demonstrations that may escalate to violence and disruption to travel, we will start school later in August than we originally planned in the calendar. We will need to condense our new staff orientation as well.
It will look like this:
August 6th - 10th: Orientation for staff
Monday, August 13th: New student orientation day
Tuesday, August 14th: First Day of School - School begins for all students
The 2018 - 19 school year will continue to be 180 days for students. We will work on that calendar as soon as we can and share it with you. The annual tuition fees will continue to be split into 10 monthly payments for you convenience and the first payment will be due on 1st August as usual.
There will be more information about this nearer to the time but we wanted to let you know about the later start date as soon as we had made the decision.
Please forward any concerns or other information to Pam Sephton Director of Education, email@example.com
Logos Office is pleased to announce that our PE uniform inventory has been replenished. Please come to the Logos office and see our selection. School uniforms are also available for purchase in the office if needed.
It's flu season and there are a lot students that have been sick! Student symptoms are: fever, headache, cough, sore throat, vomiting, and diarrhea. Please help by following school policy by keeping your child at home if they had a fever of 38.0 C or greater and/or vomiting in the last 24 hours. Remember, giving fever reducing medication to keep the fever down is not considered "not having a fever". Also, make sure your child is up to date with their childhood immunizations. Let's help keep the school as healthy as possible and stop the spread of germs :-).
Thank you for your cooperation,
