Phnom Penh is the bustling capital city of Cambodia.
Although Cambodia is the poorest country in
Southeast Asia, Phnom Penh is making rapid strides
in terms of development. New high rises are
springing up, conveniences are more readily
accessible, and wireless internet is here! On the flip
side, power outages are frequent, poverty is rampant,
and basic necessities like clean water and health
care are not available to many. Life is a struggle for
the average Cambodian, a struggle for survival.
Cambodia has one of the lowest life expectancies
in the world. In the midst of these intimidating hardships,
the Cambodian church is beginning to grow.
The gospel was not brought to Cambodia until
the beginning of the 20th century and then nearly
eradicated during the Khmer Rouge genocide which
took place in the 1970’s. Today the people of this
scarred country need the hope of the gospel more
than ever before. That’s what Logos is about. It’s
about bringing hope to Cambodians and enabling
missionary families by providing quality education
to their children. |
